Who: El Centro is a social services agency serving primarily the Hispanic/Latino population as well as non-Latinos (30%) in the Lorain County community.  While some services are designed to specifically meet the needs of Spanish-speaking Latinos in Lorain County, other services such as the Mental Health Navigator Program, Food Pantry, Youth Services, and Money Management Program (Representative Payee) are not Latino-specific and are utilized by all members of the community in need.

El Centro currently offers programs through four departments;: Money Management (Representative Pay for residents with a severe mental health disorder or disability), Adult Supportive Services (array of services connecting residents to community resources), Youth Leadership Program (231!GO Collaborative), and Community Development Program.  El Centro also provides a food pantry in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, ESOL program through Lorain County Community College, Spanish  211 in collaboration with United Way, Mental Health Navigator Line in collaboration with the Lorain County Board of Mental Health and Free Legal Clinics in collaboration with Legal Aid.  Other services include Padres Comprometidos (Parents Engagement Classes, helping them develop tools to help their kids become successful), diabetes prevention classes, health fairs, and financial literacy classes.  Mental Health agencies also provide counseling services from El Centro to alleviate barriers such as transportation;  agencies include: Nord Center, Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services and Pathways Counseling and Growth Center.  Additional services are offered at El Centro through collaborative partnerships with organizations such  Mary Lee Tucker Clothe-a-Child, Genesis House, LMHA,  Lorain Police Department, and others.
